In 2013, on the night of August 7 to August 8, the church burned down completely. In March 2015, architect Vilius Urbonas presented the plans for the new Balbieriškis church to the Balbieriškis community. The new church is slightly narrower and shorter. One of the biggest and most striking changes is that the two towers that were previously there have been replaced by one of similar height. The church itself is stronger, the walls are made of three layers of brick. The roofs of the church and the tower are covered with ceramic tiles. The new church was consecrated on March 3, 2018.
The founder of the new church was Arvydas Paukštys, the founder and owner of the wireless technology company Teltonika. Having allocated 1 million euros for the reconstruction, A. Paukštys became the first national patron of the arts in Lithuania.
