    The River Shannon, at approximately 360 km (224 miles), is the longest river in Ireland and the British Isles. It originates from the Shannon Pot in County Cavan, flowing southward through the heart of the country before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean via the Shannon Estuary near Limerick city.
