This is a lovely path but it is wholly unsuitable for road or touring tyres for most of the year. The path gets very muddy and is always one of the last paths to dry out in the summer. If you're following NCN2 and don't have off road tyres I'd suggest using the new cycle path alongside the A27 between Polegate and Berwick.

Agree it’s not always easy to negotiate the mud and potholes especially on a road bike but it was part of the fun !
