The Luhe - in a canoe through brisk rapids

On 29 km from Wetzen to Winsen (Luhe)

The Luhe is a wonderful, natural tributary of the Ilmenau and rises south of the heath town of Bispingen. From the source it meanders through a wonderfully idyllic natural landscape and flows into the Ilmenau near Winsen (Luhe). Until the beginning of the 20th century, ships traveled along the Luhe to Winsen (Luhe). Commercial shipping was stopped and the Luhe is now a very popular canoeing water.

For paddling enthusiasts, the Luhe offers everything your heart desires. The nature along the river bank is a true idyll. The current is brisk and surprises with some surges that are a refreshing challenge. The first stage from Wetzen to Luhmühlen is particularly attractive. There is a 70 meter long section of rapids to overcome that will make your heart beat faster. A real treat.

If you prefer something quieter, you can launch your boat in Luhmühlen. Here the Luhe makes its way through beautiful, wooded natural sections. Away from all the hustle and bustle and noise, you glide through Lobker Park with an impressive population of trees and plants. As far as Garstedt and Bahlburg, the current determines your course and you can enjoy the tranquility of nature to the fullest.
