A small town in the lower Val Trebbia, it stands on the left bank of the river of the same name. It is part of an area known as the "Apennines of the 4 provinces", where the mountains of the provinces of Piacenza, Genoa, Alessandria and Pavia border.

Nice town with a few bars for a coffee stop and a great free water fountain near the public swimming pool for bidon refills.
Can be reached from the SS45 or from the hills above and is the gateway to many great climbs including the one towards the Pietra Parcellara or, further up the 45 to Bobbio, the passo Penice.
