At the end of the 19th century, Gorzkowice received a magnificent brick church. The wooden church burned down in 1895 from a spark from a railway locomotive. Thanks to the compensation, which amounted to 25,000 rubles and the contributions scheduled in the parish, Father Ignacy Kasprzykowski built a magnificent, Gothic church, one of the most beautiful and largest in the diocese. It is divided into three naves, has five marble altars, a beautiful, carved pulpit, and opposite it a large figure of St. Peter in chains. The great altar was built of dark Kielce marble, as were the mensas of the four side altars with oak wood altarpieces. However, the tabernacle was made of bronze, and the beautiful white baptismal font of Carrara marble. The church has an eighteen-voice Riger organ, terracotta, oak furniture in the sacristy, in a word, everything thought out and coordinated from the smallest detail gives evidence of the love of God's house by the parish priest and the parishioners who understand him.
