The first temple at this location was built during the Ming Dynasty, around 1600. Around 1860 the temple collapsed and it was rebuilt in 1868.
During the Cultural Revolution the temple was used as a school and grain storage. It was returned to the Buddhist sect in 1990s. In the 2000s the temple was restored and re-opened in 2010.
