Only for experienced and sure-footed people, the last piece in front of the summit is suitable. The view of Lake Chiemsee is really breathtaking.

The summit cross is the largest in the Bavarian Alps.

Small via ferrata, which is rewarded with a fantastic view. Surefootedness and accordingly good shoes required. The via ferrata on the south side (the descent from the summit in our tour) is a bit more challenging than the ascent on the north side, but much less crowded.

Beautiful way with easy climbing passages up here. I liked it. Above nice view.

Unique experience. However, it takes some stamina to climb this cross.

I can only recommend it to everyone... recommend it👌🏼

You should only hike up to the summit with proper shoes and a head for heights.

A difficult way to the cross, but an experience when you have made it.
September 21, 2020
in clear weather, the summit is absolutely crowded

Great mountain panorama. The wall with the cross also looks great from below.

For all those who don't like climbing...at the moment the path around the east summit from the Kampenwand to the Piesenhauser Alm is still partly covered with old snow...very slippery. The way down to the Piesenhauser Hochalm is still very muddy, but you can do it with trekking poles. I recommend descent to Grassau.. nice way.
Descent to Rottau is currently closed due to a destroyed bridge.
I then hitchhiked back to Aschau without any problems. Great tour🙂

The ascent up to the summit is quite demanding, especially from the Steinlingalm, but due to the excellent trail markings it is quite feasible, even if you have to "climb" in some places, although stirrups and wire rope safety devices are also available. The final view from the highest summit cross in the Bavarian Alps (including the entire Chiemsee) is priceless!

First on a narrow path to the Kampenwand, then over a secured climb up to the eastern summit. The descent begins with a short but exciting climb through the Kampenwand.

Can only confirm the previous speakers, not for insecure hikers. At first it's still going up, but it doesn't get any better. But great view as a reward.

A beautiful area, good hiking trails and signage.
A great destination!

Sturdy shoes and good conditions are required. The ascent compensates with a breathtaking view over the mountains to the Chiemsee.

Great summit with beautiful views. In order to reach it, some very greasy spots have to be overcome. One of these is exposed and secured with a rope.
Anyone who is sure-footed, has a head for heights and wears shoes with tread will be rewarded with a great view for scrambling.
