The monumental family tomb was built by Prince Adolf between 1911 and 1916. 18 family members of the House of Schaumburg-Lippe, princes and princesses have since been buried in the crypt, and a further 8 in the urn cemetery outside the mausoleum.
The brother, father and mother of today's Prince Alexander also rest there. The mausoleum opens its doors every weekend and public holiday and can be visited on your own or as part of a guided tour.
