A beautiful fountain house with an interesting history. It once supplied the entire city of Karlsruhe with clean Durlach water. Since the construction of the waterworks in the Oberwald forest in 1871, it has served solely as a spring catchment, with the water seeping into the Durlach pond gardens.

The Durlach fountain house is on the corner of Badener Strasse and Marstallstrasse and was built by Friedrich Weinbrenner from 1821 to 1824.

The spring water emerging at the foot of the Geigersberg was collected here. The water flowed from here to the old water tower and from 1896 to the Durlach waterworks at the same location.

Karlsruhe was supplied via the old water tower in a cast-iron pipe until 1871. From then on, the Durlacher Wald waterworks in the Oberwald took over the Karlsruhe water supply. Durlach households were supplied with water from this spring until the 1960s.

The water that is produced is no longer used and is channeled into the sewer system via a ditch.

Brunnenhausstrasse is named after the fountain house.
