This is the junction where the Cromford canal meets the High Peak Trail. There’s a small shop, a museum and toilets. It’s a great place to start either a hike or a bike ride.

Perfect for dogs - you will see quite a few hikers/walkers with dogs here. The cafe (which is still open during Covid, using contactless payment) sells frozen yoghurt for dogs and hot drinks and snacks for their humans! There are free toilets, with baby changing facilities, disabled access, mobility scooter hire, next to seating area, with umbrellas for cover overlooking the canal with picnic benches further up. Some of the oldest surviving railway workshops in the world, from the former Cromford and High Peak Railway. Visitor Centre open 10.00am-5.00pm every day Easter to November; 10.30am-4.00pm weekends only November to March, (excluding Christmas Day)
