Extremely rough asphalt, very damaged in places near the north, it gets better in the south.
If the snow plow hasn't just cleared the road (like in my pictures), there are a few sections on this route like this one that are impossible to pass even with wide racing bike tires. We were lucky.
The day before the clearing, you would have had to push your bike a few times from Douz to the end of the asphalt. Not so great with cleats in the sand. But a fascinating asphalt route through the sandy desert.
