The village coat of arms is hidden in "Samaal's" colorful robe
The donkey parade in the anniversary village is gradually taking on color - Sabrina's fiberglass figure is wearing Pippi's striped stockings
The preparations for the 750th anniversary celebrations in Eschbach are in full swing. Hardly any of the 714 residents of the small community below the Madenburg are not involved in the festive activities. All the residents of the community are in the starting blocks, so to speak - including the new four-legged "Eschbachers", who will be a special attraction at the festival: the 30 Eschbach donkeys.
Their arrival last November caused a stir right from the start - they kept the "long-established Eschbachers" on their toes for a whole night. Because the four-legged animals did not want to appear "naked and unclothed" in their new home, they only arrived there at midnight (Marktplatz regional reported). A lot has happened since then. Most of the four-legged animals - with the original dimensions of the Eschbach donkey Elsa - are already eagerly pawing the ground and can hardly wait to present themselves to their audience.
Marktplatz regional has already been able to visit some of them and will be introducing the colorful donkeys in the next few weeks - as well as the amateur artists who have "brought them to life" with color and a lot of imagination.
Twelve-year-old Sabrina Geilhaupt is starting today. In her parents' house in Trifelsring, she painted and varnished her fiberglass donkey with great attention to detail. When you look at the colorful donkey, you feel like you're transported straight to the fantasy world of Pippi Longstocking. For four weeks, Sabrina worked day after day with acrylic paints, brushes and paint pots. The result: a small work of art!

Holiday experiences and children's birthdays with donkey rides were the main reasons for the student at the Konrad-Adenauer Realschule to decide to buy a donkey figure. The 45 kg "animal" cost 330 euros, half of which Sabrina financed with her saved pocket money, the other half was contributed by her parents Dr. Alfred and Marion Geilhaupt as a birthday present for their daughter. In order to paint her donkey perfectly, Sabrina bought a second small donkey to practice on, which she first painted as a prototype, so to speak. The two donkey figures now present themselves almost like mother and daughter in their colorful stockings and blue star-shaped bodies, which even hide the village coat of arms. Not only the little artist, but also her parents are proud of the successful work of art and will put "Samaal" up in the front garden of their property. Incidentally, the name of the pretty donkey is by no means oriental - all three family members also contributed to the naming. (Source: “Die Rheinpfalz” -Marktplatz regional)
