The New Zealand Liberation Museum – Te Arawhata in Le Quesnoy is a museum dedicated to the liberation of the town by New Zealand soldiers during World War I.
The museum offers an immersive experience with dramatic stories, sculptural artworks and soundscapes that depict New Zealand’s involvement in the liberation of Le Quesnoy on 4 November 1918. The museum is also known as Te Arawhata, which means “the ladder” in Māori, a reference to the manner in which the town was liberated.
The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9:30am to 5pm and offers a range of price options for visitors. It is a great place to learn more about the heroic actions of New Zealand soldiers and the history of Le Quesnoy.
