The Laubegast shipyard was built between 1895 and 1898 in what is now the Dresden district of Laubegast. The Saxon-Bohemian Steamship Company, founded as the Elbe Steamship Company, was forced by the up-and-coming residential community to relocate its shipyard, built in 1855 in Blasewitz.
