La Chanta has become a model of what is promulgated by IUCN Resolution WCC-2020-Res-088: “Conservation of diversity and natural heritage in mining environments”, an example of biodiversity and wetland ecosystems after a careful and successful restoration of an old gravel pit for construction materials, intended for scientific, educational and tourist uses.
