Many innovations in Lengfeld were initiated by the visionary Fritz Hasselmann. For example, electricity was generated in the cement works by steam turbines. The co-owner of the cement works, shareholder and architect also founded the Lengfeld fire brigade in 1874 and provided the first telephone connection to the Alkofen, Kapfelberg and Saal sites in 1890. At his instigation, a preliminary design for a water supply for the Lengfeld community was drawn up as early as 1910 (but not implemented at that time).
