Along the Laambroekvijvers, following the former coal track, lies the Pumping Station of the Kempische Steenkoolmijnen. It was built in 1939 to pump cooling water from the existing pond. You will find this historic building right next to the tourist cycle route network between junction 300 and 316, or you can discover the area on foot with the green route (2.2 km), combinable with the blue route (4 km) through the adjacent nature reserve Kolveren. You can start from Café Vini's in Houthalen.
