The André Demedtshuis is housed in the former rectory. It was opened on 30 September 1983, the Year of the Village.
The poet-writer, teacher, radio director and language activist, born in Sint-Baafs-Vijve in 1906, was given his own cultural centre during his lifetime, with a selection from the archives about his work and also a part of his personal library.
André Demedts died in 1992.
