The station building in Erzhausen was built in 1903 as part of the development of rail transport. It originally served as a classic station with a waiting area, ticket office and freight transport facilities to support the growing mobility and trade in the region. The architecture reflects the typical country house style of smaller stations of that time. The playful roof shape with the tower-like projection is often found in the Darmstadt area.

In 2003, the station was spun off from the railway's ownership. The station's reception building, which is now a listed building, has since been the "Erzhausen Book Station". In addition to being used as a community library, it offers space for cultural events and serves as a local meeting place. It helps to enrich the cultural life in Erzhausen. The charm of the historic building gives the place a special atmosphere and bears witness to the high value that was placed on public transport and how this was expressed in beautiful architecture.
