The scoop or spoon fountain in Haina with its pretty half-timbered house is a unique protected cultural monument. This is what you can read on the internet and is therefore a real highlight.

You can find out more about it here:

Since both examples naturally have a lot to do with water, the story of the drinking fountain on Haina's village street, a unique protected cultural monument, also fits in with this. To be more precise, it is an attractive fountain house built from hewn limestone, consisting of a brick fountain room and a half-timbered building on top. Haina can point to an extraordinary abundance of water from the Spring with its tributaries, the Dörflesgraben (also called Augraben), the Hutschbach, the Weißbach and the Sulza, so that five mills were once operated in Haina. However, none exist today.

Horst Thein had once again taken up this fountain story, which, according to him, was once recorded by the former teacher Ernst Weschenfelder. He had, among other things, carried out further research in church documents and district archives in order to complete some data and facts. There are a number of inscriptions and numbers on the fountain house that must seem like "Bohemian villages" to the viewer. These include inscriptions and numbers that refer to the year 1922, a time exactly 100 years ago. Making these inscriptions comprehensible and understandable was a task that Horst Thein had taken on. He designed a plaque on which the numbers and inscriptions were "literally" deciphered in the truest sense of the word. The plaque attached to the fountain house before Easter now provides information about its builders, the mayors who were active at the time and the building itself.
