Schlangenweg Trail

The snake path hike is certainly one of the most scenic forest hikes in the Steigerwald. A beautiful, narrow and "meandering" path leads the hiker through the canyon forests in the Nordsteigerwald near Zell am Ebersberg. Through countless loops, one always hikes new insights into the deeply carved side valleys of the Böhlgrund. Just a stone's throw away from the densely populated Main Valley, a piece of forest nature has preserved itself so pure and unadulterated that it seems to be removed from the rest of the world. If you are lucky, you will encounter fire salamanders and jumping frogs on the shady paths.
