A rare geological feature is the up to three-meter-high spring alluvial cone in the Mental. This was created by temporary springs, the discharge of which depends on the groundwater level and therefore fluctuates over the course of the year. With the water, soil particles that have seeped into the limestone with the rainwater also come back to the surface and are deposited on the grass around the opening. The grass grows through the embankment and thereby consolidates the soil particles. In this way, the spring alluvial cone continues to rise over time.
