Teichos Dymaion (Wall of the Dymaeans) is a
prehistoric, acropolis-like fortress, the only one of its kind in western Greece.
The settlement was inhabited from the Neolithic period through the Roman era.
The impressive cyclopean walls date back to the Mycenaean period (around the 13th century BC).
According to legend, the fortress was built by the hero Hercules. Besides the massive
walls, excavations have unearthed ceramics, tools, and foundation remains from various periods.
