The Pont de Fragnée escaped the First World War, but was the victim of the second German invasion. After the war, it was rebuilt according to the original plans. The reconstruction work ended on November 4, 1948. We took advantage of the reconstruction to widen the bridge deck, increasing its width from 16 meters to 17.20 meters.

Substantial renovation work was undertaken from August 1993. The road repair and the removal of the tram rails were carried out and the 37,000 elements of the bridge were removed one by one and renovated2. Since the end of the renovations in the early 2000s, the Fragnée bridge has regained, after these works and the layout of the surroundings, its aspect of the beginning of the century.

A privileged crossing point on the Meuse, the Fragnée bridge has an average daily traffic of around 30,000 vehicles. Transit traffic between the north and the south of the city has now taken the motorway since June 2000 via the Liège bridge.

Beautiful busy bridge with the necessary sights, where there is also a safe place for walkers...

Famous Liège Maas bridge at the confluence with the Ourthe. Also called Engelenbrug after the 4 resounding golden angels on high pillars at the bridgeheads.
