    Hiking

The Wollschweber are usually medium-sized flies that are conspicuous hairy and bumblebee. Some of the species are dark colored and have black, translucent wings. This led to the alternative German name Trauerschweber. In some members of the group, the trunk is noticeably short or completely stunted, others have a very long trunk, which is used for sucking nectar. In the species Bombylius medius the trunk is almost as long as the body.
