The NSG LÜ 312 Hammeniederung is predominantly characterized by extensive grassland, which is mostly used extensively and has a dense network of ditches. However, the area is also characterized by significant proportions of agricultural unused landscape structures, such as reed beds, wet fallow land, wet scrub, alder forests, various bodies of water, and in the northwestern fringe, near-natural raised bog stages.
The landscape is characterized by very slight relief differences, predominant grassland and thus extensive openness, proximity to nature, and a largely absence of built structures. Hiking

The Hammeniederung is wonderful for hiking - simply because of its scenic diversity. Quiet paths along the rivers and canals through the expanse of the flat river landscape between Osterholz-Scharmbeck and Worpswede invite you to take walks and hikes of varying lengths.

The Hameniederung, a nature reserve, is a large, connected wet meadow complex in the river valley, which consists of low moor, hay meadows, pastures and wet fallow land, and degenerated raised and transitional moors on the edges.
