Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
The Angerweg through the Angertal is wonderful to ride on a touring bike or mountain bike. I drove the route with the velomobile. This is only possible if you have enough ground clearance for an unpaved road. Because there is a few kilometers of "hiking trail" at the end of the route, which is closed to traffic and which, strictly speaking, is not allowed to ride bicycles. At least I haven't seen a bike release sign. This path is wide enough for cyclists and pedestrians. Komoot still allows planning for it. The surface is not too bad and can still be driven on with wider tires. This section is only recommended to a limited extent by road cyclists.
Until then, on the super narrow asphalt roads - some of these are only delivery roads and not explicitly free for cyclists, but obviously well tolerated - it is now dangerously smooth in places in autumn and winter. Mud, horse manure, branches, wet leaves and grit are on the streets in many places. The path is so narrow that cyclists and an oncoming car can hardly or not pass because one of the two would have to dodge the muddy hard shoulder. Fortunately, there is very little car traffic, you only meet a car every 5-10 minutes, but then it can quickly become dangerous. The beautiful landscape, the tranquility and the magnificent views make up for it beyond measure. You should take your time for the tranquil, romantic Angertal.
