Road cycling
The first settlements in the Heddesheim area date back to 100 AD, when the neighboring town of Ladenburg was founded by the Romans. The first documented mention of the town dates back to 917 under the name "Hetenesheim." Agriculture was the main source of income for the Heddesheim population for a long time. Tobacco cultivation was an important branch of this. In the mid-20th century, Heddesheim was the largest tobacco-growing community in Germany. Today, however, tobacco cultivation is of secondary importance.
