The water pumping facilities in Wasserturmstraße were gradually dismantled from 2001 and the water rights were cancelled. The pressure boosting station was converted into a social station in 2003, but the Zörbig drinking water association still uses the area as a location for its technical department.[4] The water tower is a listed building and is registered in the monument register with the number 094 12330.[6] In 2011, it was depicted on a stamp by the MZZ postal service (a subsidiary of the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung) to mark the city's 1050th anniversary.[7][8]
