Mountain biking
Ruhrhöhenweg is a well-known main hiking trail. It starts in the Winterberg at the Ruhr Source and ends 244 km further in Duisburg. The course is parallel to the Ruhrtal cycle path but on the heights of the Ruhr valley. In Bochum area a short section runs on the southern side of the Ruhr.
