The Moorish Tower of Paterna is a defensive construction dating from the end of the 11th century – beginning of the 12th century. Together with the cave dwellings that proliferated in the 18th century, it forms part of the area recognised as BIC (Property of Cultural Interest).
It was a fortification designed to protect the population of the town and formed part of the defensive belt of the city together with other towers in nearby municipalities. (paterna.es)
