The shareholders of Flughafen Wien Betriebs-GmbH were originally the Republic of Austria (50 percent) and the provinces of Vienna and Lower Austria (25 percent each); they retained the majority of the shares even after the partial privatization and transformation into "Flughafen Wien AG" that took place on April 29, 1992. On June 15, 1992, the airport share was traded on the Vienna Stock Exchange for the first time.
