Going East it is definitely better to turn right here and go old road - good asphalt, zero traffic. Tunnel has 2 lines, no side road and you have to get ca. 150m ascent in the tunnel so it would take long to pass the tunnel. Going old road would not be that longer + you get very nice landscapes
