The Monument à Jehan Froissart in Valenciennes is a beautiful memorial that was unveiled in 1856. It is a marble statue by the French sculptor Henri Lemaire and is located on the Place Jehan Froissart. The monument commemorates Jehan Froissart, a famous chronicler and poet who was born in Valenciennes around 1333. The statue stands on a portico and is decorated with bas-reliefs depicting the Escaut and the Rhonelle, as well as mementos of other famous Valenciennois.
