    Town Hall, Sempach
The representative wooden building is located in the most prominent location on the town street.
The former town hall is a post-and-beam construction, a wooden structure, and yet representative both in terms of its massive appearance and its prominent location on the widest, square-like part of the town street. The building dates from 1474/75 and thus fits in well with the municipal (and also the federal) self-image of its time.
The town hall was a typical example of a multifunctional building, as was also found elsewhere. Over the centuries, the building housed council chambers, market, trading and storage premises, functioned as an archive, apartment, theater stage, laundry drying room and sentencing site, and was also temporarily the home of the bird observatory and the Sempach town school. In keeping with its original purpose, the town hall is now an "open space" and can be rented for social events. At the same time, it serves as a location as well as a prominent object of a museum, the Town Hall Museum.
After the town hall had been owned by the Sempach corporation for a while, the building became the property of a broadly supported foundation during the extensive renovation from 2011 to 2014.

The old town hall is in the middle of the town. It is probably the most visually impressive historical building in Sempach. The old town hall houses a museum. On four floors, all kinds of sources report on the political, economic, social and religious life in Sempach from the late Middle Ages to the present day.
        Opening times: April 1st - October 31st

A passage under the town hall connects the old town with the nearby lake promenade
