The lake is a highlight – very idyllic on the west side with many bathing opportunities.

M., it holds 0.66 km³ and is 87 m deep at its deepest point. Its length is 7.5 km, the circumference is 19.8 km and the average discharge is 1.28 m³/s.

        Story

The Reuss Glacier, which retreated towards the end of the Würme Ice Age, left behind several moraines around 12,000 years ago, including that of Mariazell, which damms Lake Sempach at its northern end.
