The Villa Schröder was built in 1887 according to plans by Ludwig Klingenberg and Hugo Weber and has been a listed building since 1996.

The two-storey, seven-axis, clinker-clad, very differentiated building with a hipped roof, strong cornices above the mezzanine, a three-storey side tower with an octagonal helmet, the central projection with a gable on the garden side and the base or basement floor was built in 1887 in the era of historicism in the neo-renaissance style for the entrepreneur and manufacturer Johann Friedrich Schröder (1831-1888). The Villa Bischoff (Weserstrasse 84) was designed by the same architects.

In 1911, an additional storey was added to the previously single-storey extension. From 1950 to 1953, the house was rebuilt and renovated according to plans by Dieter Hoffmann and Gert Kannengießer. A staircase with an elevator in the extension now led to a separate apartment. A garage was added in the basement and the garden front was changed by enlarging the windows and adding further extensions. The client was Gert Lürssen († 1991), the owner of the Lürssen shipyard.

The villa was to be converted into condominiums by the company M-Projekt Bremen from 2021. The western part of the building (Weserstrasse 78A, referred to as the "extension"), which is also a listed building, is to be demolished and replaced by a new building with apartments.
