Stöckstädter Bridge / Altrhein Bridge – Stockstadt a.R 🚴‍♂️Stockstadt am Rhein (dialect: Stockscht am Rhoi) is located in the Groß-Gerau district of southern Hesse and is located on the southern edge of the Rhine-Main region. 🚴‍♂️
The town is located in the Upper Rhine Plain on a bend of the Altrhein, opposite the Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue European Nature Reserve, at the confluence of the Modau River and the Rhine.
The Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue Nature Reserve is the largest nature reserve in Hesse. It is part of the Hessian Ried between the Rhine and the Bergstrasse. The inland island of Kühkopf can be reached via the Kühkopf Bridge in Erfelden and the bridge in Stockstadt am Rhein. From the left bank of the Rhine, the island was accessible by a passenger ferry from Guntersblum until 2012. Ferry service has been discontinued since 2013.
For visitors to the inland island of Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue, Stockstadt am Rhein is an excellent starting point for exploring the region.
