The sea rescue cruiser was in service on Norderney from 1969 to 1997. The rescue cruiser was then decommissioned and replaced by the larger "Bernhard Gruben". The ship itself was sold to the rescue service in Iceland. From there it went on to Norway in 2001 and since July 2021 the "Otto Schülke" has been back in the port of Norderney, as a seaworthy museum cruiser.

The “Otto Schülke” was a 19-meter class sea rescue cruiser of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). It was built in 1969 by the Schweers shipyard in Bardenfleth under the shipyard number 6407.
