Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The railway line built at the beginning of the 20th century connected the Rhine-Herne Canal with the blast furnaces of the Bochum association and served to supply iron ore. Today, the track is consistently developed as a paved bike path and connects the Bochum West Park with the zoo "Zoom" in Gelsenkirchen on the Rhine-Herne Canal.

The Erzbahntrasse leads from Gelsenkirchen over Herne to Bochum over 18 bridges and is one of the most beautiful bike paths in the Ruhr area.

The Erzbahntrasse is a great bike path on the old railway line. It leads from the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum West Park to Gelsenkirchen and is 9 km long.
This highlight marks only the entrance to the Erzbahnschwinge and not the whole route.

The Erzbahntrasse is from Bochum Jahrhunderthalle to the Gelsenkirchen Zoo (zoom experience world for inline fitness, also rollerski, branch off at Holgers erzbahnbude, over direction Zollverein Zollverein and high to the Rhine Herne channel can also be used with inline and rollerski

Hello. As far as I know the Erzbahntrasse and drive, it is mostly asphalted and very passable.

Beautiful bicycle route from the Rhine Herne Canal (Grimberger sickle) to the Jahhunderthalle in Bochum. But not necessarily continuously from Asphaltierter surface.

Not a tap, but an important north-south connection between the Rhine-Herne Canal and Bochum Westpark. From there direct connection via Parkband West and Springorum cycle path to the Ruhr in Dahlhausen.

The Erzbahnschwinge is a 130 m long, 3 m wide S-shaped bridge for cyclists and pedestrians. It consists of a steel structure braced with ropes. 32-meter masts are arranged, each of which carries one half of the bridge. An impressive construction.
