Het Voorste Goorven, located in the beautiful nature reserve of the Kampina in North Brabant, is a hidden gem for nature lovers. This enchanting fen is surrounded by vast heathlands, fragrant pine forests, and quiet marshes, making it a particularly peaceful place. In the morning light, a mysterious mist often hangs over the water, while dragonflies and birds flutter around the fen, creating a magical atmosphere.

The Kampina itself is known for its diversity of flora and fauna, and Het Voorste Goorven offers a perfect place for walkers and photographers to experience the peace and beauty of nature. Especially in the autumn, when the surrounding trees lose their colorful leaves and are reflected in the still water, this is an ideal destination to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and recharge in nature.

Het Goorven is the most photographed fen. No other fen offers more enjoyment of the morning or evening sun and beautiful colours! The fen owes its name to the old word for swamp, namely goor. Peat used to be cut around this fen. This was a dirty job and everyone could see when you had spent a day 'in het goor'. And did you know that the pine trees around this fen used to be cut for the mining industry in Limburg? They were used to prop up the mine shafts. Pine wood cracks before it breaks. This gave the miners time to escape when a shaft was about to collapse.

The most photographed fen in Oisterwijk must be Voorste Goorven. From several sides of the fen you have a great view, although the name Goorven suggests otherwise. But nothing could be further from the truth! Goor means 'swamp'. In the past, people here worked a lot with their hands in the peat and they could not get their hands clean, they remained filthy...
