A residential neighborhood wedged between Yan’An Road and Julu Road, not far from Fumin Road.

It was invested and built by Siming Bank in two stages, 1912 and 1928. These are red brick buildings left and right of an alley connecting Yan’An Road and Julu Road. These used to be relatively high end buildings when first built.

Today it is one of the rare areas to still get a sense of what ‘Old Shanghai’ used to be like, with its residents, its chatter, washing hanging out to dry and so on.
