Liberation Routes

Throughout the entire war, the clearing of Široki Do was used for accommodating and training partisan units. It was a place where military councils were held, and for a time, the Main Headquarters of Vojvodina, along with the Allied military mission, were also stationed here.
Široki Do was also a venue for various events and gatherings, and even football matches were played here during leisure time.
In 1943, the partisan Radinka Vitasović was buried at Široki Do. Her brother was the famous partisan and People’s hero Trivun Vitasović Lebarnik, a baker by profession. Hence, Radinka earned the nickname "Lepinjica", which means “bun” or “flatbread”.
As brave in battle as her brother, Lepinjica died from wounds sustained during a successful action of the 3rd Vojvodina Brigade on August 23, 1943, at the Janok meadow near the village of Neštin. During this operation, a large group of German soldiers was captured and later exchanged for hostages from the internment camp in the town of Ruma.
Lepinjica's grave was renovated in the mid-1970s as part of the memorialization project on Fruška Gora, designed by Milorad Berbakov.
