    Discover Winterthur
Although Winterthur is the sixth largest city in Switzerland, it still has a village feel. With the largest connected pedestrian zone in Switzerland, Winterthur offers a lot of variety with its pretty old town and the many unique cafes, restaurants and bars.
Not only the city, but also the region around Winterthur invites you to enjoy. Hikers and cyclists get their money's worth: Whether the idyllic Tösstal or the Zurich wine country with its lakes, fields, vineyards and the Rhine are ideal for a trip into nature. That's why it's worth staying longer and spending the night here.

      Reformed City Church, Winterthur
The Winterthur City Church is in the center of the old town and is one of the city's most famous sights. Its current form as a three-aisled basilica with a double tower dates back to the last major renovations in the 15th century. It is one of three churches in the canton of Zurich that has two towers. Unusual for a reformed church are the wall paintings by Paul Zehnder, completed in 1930.
The reformed Winterthur City Church (formerly St. Laurentius) is in the heart of the old town and is now one of the city's landmarks. It is an east-facing, three-aisled basilica with a large rectangular choir flanked by two towers. This is a special feature, because apart from Winterthur, only two other churches in the canton of Zurich have two towers: the Grossmünster in Zurich and the Rheinau monastery church. The main entrance is at the Garnmarkt. The west façade is impressive with its highly prominent gable and the tracery window that is around eight meters high. The two side aisles each have five tracery windows and somewhat simpler clerestory windows. The monumental choir has a high window with stone ornaments on each of the side walls and a three-part narrow window system from the 19th century on the east façade.
