The Cordinger Mill is a former water mill with a mill yard (miller's house and bakery) and ponds, located in the Warnau valley between Cordingen and Benefeld (town of Walsrode) in the southwestern Lüneburg Heath.
The mill was first mentioned in documents in 1661.
The complex, which was restored in the 1980s by the municipality of Bomlitz, is considered one of the most valuable historical buildings in the Heidekreis district. The mill, built in 1810, was in operation until the 1950s. Today the mill building is used for civil weddings in the town of Walsrode and is rented out for celebrations. The miller's house contains an exhibition with documents and manuscripts about and by Arno Schmidt. The writer lived with his wife from 1945 to 1950 on the mill yard, which was still fully operational at the time; This is where his first post-war stories, Enthymesis, Gadir, Leviathan and Brand's Haide, were written. The Lower Saxony Mill Road leads past the Cordinger Mill. The rustic-looking mill site is very scenic due to its location in the narrowest section of the Warnau Valley, which is sunken by almost 20 meters. It is also one of the starting points for the Eibia-Lohheide recreation area via theArno Schmidt Path.Following the steep bank of the Warnau, the Bomlitz Archaeological Hiking Trail can also be reached from here.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordinger_M%C3%BChle

Nice restored facility. Watermill, miller's house, bakery, fish ladder.
The writer Arno Schmidt lived here with his wife from 1945 to 1950.
The facility is beautifully situated in the idyllic Warnau Valley. Today you can also get married here.
The building is also used as a registry office.
