The Bicentenary Monument is one of the most recent sculptures to become part of the Vigo Monumental , a symbol that commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Vigo as a city after the expulsion of the French in the Reconquista .

It is a work by the sculptor Silverio Rivas , which, with its 5 m high steel structure, represents a symbiosis between the symbols of the Vigo shield - the tower and the olive tree - and the current reality of the municipality. Thus, each olive leaf represents one of the municipalities in the municipality. At the top of the tree, as a crown, the complete map of Vigo is represented.
