The F225 is a great gravel road that is quite easy to drive on. However, the weather can change quickly and there may even be snow. We were here in mid-September 2024 and had a heavy snowfall. Within an hour everything was white.

The F225, also known as Landmannaleið, is a mountain road that leads directly to the heart of the Icelandic Highlands. In winter and spring, it is often covered in snow, transforming into an endless white landscape where the road seems to disappear into nowhere. It is a demanding and remote stretch, only suitable for 4x4s during the season, but it offers unique views: black lava mountains peeking out of the snow, frozen rivers, and the absolute silence of the Icelandic interior.
