The stone pays tribute to the Roman town of Obernburg. After several large-scale archaeological excavations since 2000, the town has been nicknamed "Pompeii on the Main" due to the large number and outstanding preservation of the finds. What the ash rain from Vesuvius once achieved in Pompeii - the compact preservation of the Roman world - was created in Obernburg by a thick layer of alluvial clay.
