During the Second World War, in 1942, the Swinoujscie submarine harbor was built, which had previously served as a mooring point for the Kaseburg steam ferry. The Kaseburg steam ferry had been in use since 1881 as a connection to the island of Usedom. During the war, the German Navy stationed submarines from the 4th training flotilla from Stettin, training torpedo boats and war fishing cutters from the KFK flotilla here.
